Synopsis:

With the purchase of the former world headquarters of the NCR Corporation, the University of Dayton plans to not only expand its campus and facilities but also promote economic diversity for the surrounding community. NCR moved out of Dayton, where it was founded 125 years ago, to move to Duluth, Georgia. The departure was yet another significant economic blow to the city of Dayton. The repurposing of the corporate campus into an educational campus provides the school 115 acres, a 455,000-square-foot building, and a large parking lot. The main building will house the university’s research institute, a new alumni center, graduate school classrooms and executive development programs and conferences. The university hopes to stimulate a new generation of small businesses through the research institute’s expanded business incubator, whose entrepreneurs will work alongside university researchers trying to move Dayton away from its historic dependency on manufacturing jobs.
