Student-Run Business Finally Finds A Home
Synopsis:
When business students at North Charlston High School encountered location problems to use their business model, city officials stepped in to help out. The students had been challenged to come up with a business plan and find a market niche which the students did but selling Little Debbie cakes in the school cafeteria. Although it was profitable, the school would not allow sweets to be sold in the cafeteria. The students relocated to the hallway but were told food could only be sold in the cafeteria. With the help of Charleston County School District and North Charlston mayor, the students are now practicing their business model in a vacant city-owned building across from the school. The vacant property has been brought back to life thanks to these students and city officials.
